Umm, so I haven't figured out if we're featuring this new theme yet or not... Yeah, come to think of it, I don't like it.. I miss the old one.. This new version just doesn't feel as.. Memorable...
So I'm sorry, I'm prolly as sexually open minded as they come, but... I guess we all have our hang-ups and this news of MICHAEL C. HALL hittin' it with his sister DEB just strikes me as weirrrrrd...

So we recently finally got around to catching the PRINCE CASPIAN adaptation that hit theaters at the beginning of last summer. I was a total NARNIA-junkie for a spell when I was a kid and I remember really liking the character of Caspian, so I was glad to finally find a moment to pop in the DVD and see how the long awaited adaptation turned out.

Well, as I've been prone to do lately, I was enraptured for the first twenty minutes and then spent the rest of the 2 hours fighting off sleep and giving in to a series of quick naps. Anyways, in spite of my apparent sleep depravation, I actually really liked what I saw for the most part and some how I don't feel I missed too much as every time I came to there seemed to be some kind of long, drawn out CGI-heavy battle sequence. I do remember liking the 4 actors that were cast as the Pevensie kids in the last NARNIA film, and they only seem to have grown into themselves more as they get older. It must be noted that Georgie Henley promises to be one of the most talented and tuned-in actresses of her generation and hopefully will bless us with countless more performances to come. She rocks me world. Of course, William Moseley, who plays Peter continues to grow into quite the hottie and Ben Barnes proves a worthy Caspian. They've added a love story to the mix, which normally I would prolly be bothered by, but this time it really, works and adds a much needed element of heart. Luckily by the last 10 minutes of the film I had fought off enough sleep and was transfixed by this film's denouement. Have y'all heard THE CALL, sung by adorable Regina Spektor? It's featured as the gorgeous centerpiece to the movie's last few moments. This song proves to be one of my favorite original songs written for a film to come out this year and hopefully will get some OSCAR attention. If you don't mind a little *SPOILER*, check out this clip showcasing the last few moments of the film.
I really do like this song and I lurrve Regina Spektor.. The next day after watching PRINCE CASPIAN, I couldn't stop humming around to it. Anyway, it's a solid joint and though the books get a little religous-ey, the movie seems more concerned with bringing these old books to a current place.
So uber-hot superstar circuit DJ MICKY FRIEDMAN has been on my radar for some months now. Needless to say, his recent spread in OHLALA is bloody off the chain. Micky-boy's body is lookin' more bangin' than ever!

Day-um GINA!! Tell me where you get that body from?! I had the chance to watch him spin back in May at a party here in LA and I pretty much just stood in the corner and drooled over him the whole time! LOVVVVVE!!!
So I'm as die hard of a HILLS fan as you'll find, but I've got to say.. I'm so not featuring it's recent spin-off, THE CITY and as much as I love me some BRODY JENNER, his little foray into the mind of male masculinity known as BROMANCE is really just not coming together either..

OK, first thing's first, Brody should've cast hotter guys. I guess I get that he wouldn't want anyone stealing his alpha male thunder, but that doesn't mean he had to pick the bottom of the barrel. I mean, some of the guys are pretty cute but... And the promised "homoeroticism" is reaching at best. I mean, the first ep ended with a delightfully awkward hot tub elimination scene with the guys all crammed in knee-to-knee but that was only the first week.. Anywayz, the list goes on but we'll leave it at that. The thing about Brody is, just as he did with LC, I've got a feeling he'll find a way to redeem himself once he gets more comfortable with the format. And then there's The City on the other hand, which is really just dreadful. Just when you thought a "docudrama" series couldn't get more vacuous than The Hills, this comes along. The thing is.. This time around, there's none of the whimsy, none of that west coast tongue in cheek, who gives a f*@#, "je no se pa" that makes The Hills so magic. It's like by putting the purposeless Whitney Port as the helm of this venture, it doesn't even compliment it's own namesake and setting. Oh well, that's all I need to say about that...
So speaking of other recent televisual disconnects.. I had heard plenty of good buzz surrounding one of HBO's newest additions TRUE BLOOD, but besides some of the hottie male cast members, after catching a recent episode of this drama I've got to say I'm just not feeling it at this point...

And finally, I came across this great little round up of the year in cinema that was 2008 and I've got to say, it does a pretty good job of representing it all.
I promise I'm still working on a 2008 film and music wrap up of the good, the bad, the iconic and the already irrelevant. If it takes me til May or June to finally complete, then so be it... But I will get around to that if it kills me LOL!
That's all.
