I TELL YOU, THEY DO! THEY DO!

So how excited are we that Real Time with Bill Maher is back on the air?!

Seriously, the clip above from last week really just pulls together the events of the last few months since he went on hiatus in a nutshell!! What a crazy time for Real Time to not be around.. We need you Bill now more than ever!!

ZOMFG, you guys!! So for the past few year's, I've always looked forward to this time.. The time when the most recent sneak-peak trailer for the forthcoming season of The Hills leaks to the internets. Well, according to some reports, this may or may not be the last season we'll be treated to the now notorious and infamous drams that revolutionized the way narrative is communicated televisually (again, in another life, I would have devoted my master's thesis to this show..)

OK, how epic does this final season look? Heidi and Lauren reunite?! Brody and Spencer throw fist to cuff's?! And c'mon.. The whole premise is framed around a psychic who gives LC a reading on her life (which has been documented on the national stage on the internet, television and magazines for the past 5 years now!!) The genius of this all could entice me to go on for days, but I will just leave it at.. I'm settin' the ol' TiVo now!!

So with the attention towards Brothers & Sisters heating up and rumors circulating more and more of trouble-maker Balthazar Getty's looming exit from the show, the brilliant team of writers behind this Emmy winner (and one of the only hour-long scripted network dramas I can bare to sit through) have pulled together a 2-hour long network movie "event" that will reportedly take the show off on a whole new trajectory.

I've only made it a couple scenes in so far but I'm loving how they've pulled this all together.

UPDATE: OK, so I just got all the way through it and I am speechless. So so so well done!! If you've seen it, the whole birth / death (?) sequence between Kitty's new baby and Robert possibly being lost backed to Coldplay's Fix You is exactly the contemporary pop emotional manipulation that hits me to the core!

Somehow I missed all the hoopla leading up to the release of Sober House on VH1 and now after having caught a few clips... I have to admit, if I were to get hooked on this show, I might have to quit my day job because I'd never want to leave the house!

Unlike Celebrity Rehab, which was impossible to bare (an amazing show but for this viewer personally I just took it too raw, too difficult to get through), Sober House brings it all together!! And I frikin' live for Mary Carey and she is sooo at her best in this vehicle... I'll have to put it on my to-do list to save for a rainy day.

So have you all heard how they've just announced that one of the best entities from the 20th century, the cast of 'Seinfeld' is now set to appear on the upcoming season of 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' (which has been long, long, long overdue to return from it's last season IMHO!!)

Too bad we'll have to wait all the way until the fall but once it finally gets here.. Wow! This set up has bri-zill-iance written all over it!

So we were down in Puerto Vallarta, for Andrew's __ b-day libations and I've gotta say, our home away from home is quickly starting to grow on us so much that it's starting to make LA feel more home away from homey instead.  I've posted some fun pix from the weekend below and you can check out the rest over here on myface. ;)

We got back into town on Tuesday, and threw a WeHo celebration the next night.

Yeah.. Being back with all our LA peeps reminded us why we keep coming back to reality.. The rest of the pix are posted over here on my myface, so check 'em out if you want. We're lucky to have such good people in our lives. Besos a todos!!

Did y'all catch RuPaul (aka Andre Charles..) on The View Wednesday morning?

Holla!! While the production values of her Drag Race reality competition on Logo could definitely use a face lift.. I'll be watching this thing through to the season finale... I mean at this point, it's really just become some kind of duty to the community or something.. We all have to do our part.

So exciting times, y'all!! The long, long anticipated premiere of Watchmen finally premieres this weekend and I gotta say, as much as this graphic novel's transformation to the Cineplexes offers much, it's really all just coming down to checkin' out Billy Crudup's giant, blue p33n!!.

While early reviews so far have proven to be rather mixed, I'm still going to join the masses to take in all the hot fuss.  And with the promise of plenny of gratuitious full frontal male nudity.. Something tells me I'm gonna be at least somewhat satisfied with the final product.

So this weekend's going to be a busy one.. Tonight we actually have a lot to catch up with around the house, etc.. Maybe we'll swing by MJ's as it's going to be one of the last week's they're featuring their Friday night event, Swallow.. But tomorrow we're going to try to get up and out early to get down to Anaheim for a whirlwind day at Disney because we can and it's free.. (We are in a recession after all!!) Saturday night we're going to be featuring the Reflex event, Lord of the Drums which we're looking forward to cuz it's been a while since we've done something circuity-esque. Sunday should be pretty kick back for the most part, but we will be stopping by Charity Bingo at MJ's on Sunday sponsored by The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence which always promises to be a good time and then maybe we'll brave the mob scenes for a Watchmen screening or maybe not.. Who knows, all that we do know is life is pretty good, all things considered.

That's all.

READING PORN TO THE BLIND.

So the Brit Awards last night in London sounded amazing.  It's hearing about events like this that make me miss my dear London-town so much.  Coldplay played what the Daily Mail and Chris Martin himself dubbed the "best encore ever" Wednesday night, joined by The Killers and U2.

Earlier in the evening, Coldplay lost all their categories at The Brit Awards, and then went over to play War Child charity's 15th birthday. Chris Martin told the crowd, which included Sienna Miller, Anna Friel and No. 1 fan Gwyneth Paltrow: 'We've just got back from Japan, lost all the Brits, it's been a s**t day, but it's going to get better.'

And that it did as they performed a selection of their greatest hits, including tracks from their current record Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends....

'This,' Chris announced, 'is going to be the best encore you've ever seen.'

Gary Barlow emerged to perform Take That's Back For Good with Martin on backing vocals. Then U2 frontman Bono and The Killers joined in to form an impromptu supergroup for a triumphant rendition of Brandon Flowers's All These Things That I've Done.

What do y'all think? Does it qualify?

So I've never heard of Vman magazine, but after seeing these pics of Miley Cyrus's fuck buddy, Justin Gaston, I'm definitely taking notice.

I recently posted about all the hotness that's been going around lately, and this spread more than deserves to be included.  In case you care, this is what he says about her: "I look up to her. It’s nice to have someone there who already knows what’s going on.  It helps you plan your next steps."

Yeah, I really didn't care either. But I enjoyed what the red track suit had to say.

Speaking of hotness, have y'all heard how Hugh Jackman will be joined by Dominic Cooper, Amanda Seyfried, Beyonce and Zac Efron to bring us all a ferosh song and dance number directed by the one and only Baz Luhrman?!

Okay, just how excited are you for the Oscars now????? I'll be TiVoing the whole thing from Puerto Vallarta but.. Can't wait to finally check it all out!

IT'S JUST LIKE PULLING A TRICK NOW, ISN'T IT?

So there's been a lot of hotness going around lately and there are some boys I wanna take a little time to feature.  First of all.. lovvvving how this Portland gay mayor sex scandal is developing.. Deee-lish!  As if it couldn't get any better, we're met with this perfect news that our boi Beau Breedlove (still can't get over that name) is continuing his road to success and notability by taking to the covers of UNZIPPED magazine!!

I mean he already has the name for porn, so why not??! This is exactly what he should be doing! Get it, girl! Get it! Milk that cow!  Follow the link to see some more pics of Beau-Beau partying hardy at local WeHo watering hole and regular hang out, Fiesta Cantina.  We're sorry we missed him come through town..

So we've been noticing one of Joel McHale's interns on The Soup, Matt Carney, for sometime now, but did y'all happen to catch him this past weekend featuring his oiled up and half-nekkid self along side of The Wrestler's Evan Rachel Wood?!?

Seriously, there's a lot of homo-centric action going around these days.. Is it the Bromance phenomena? Is it a natural backlash to the ridiculous ideology behind such discriminating cultural developments as Proposition 8? Whatever the explanation, keep it coming! And as far as Matt Carney goes, let's keep an eye out on him.. I've got a feeling he's going places ;)

You know, Justin Timberlake's kind of been taking a back seat lately compared to a couple years ago (besides his recent moving and of-the-moment collab with TI) but his new GQ cover proves sexy hasn't gone anywhere.

He like exudes sex, doesn't he?!

So, hate all you want, but as we approach the return of The Hills and it's 5th (and what should really be its last) season, recently leaked pics and goss from on set are magically making their ways online.

Just like every season beforehand, pubescent tween girls (and 28 year old gay men) everywhere are filled with anticipatory giddiness. I mean, can you blame them? Do you not see that picture of Brody rocking his board???

This image of the remnants of Team Lauren all together on Hawaii's North Shore brings back a lot! Can't wait to see how they'll be featuring what was my home for 2 amazing, magical years. Say what you will, the fact that it's not a documentary isn't the point.. I'll be watching The Hills to the very last frame.

This week has already been a whirlwind and seems to show no time of slowing.  Andrew's birthday is this weekend and to celebrate, we'll be heading back to PV to take a few days break from the Rat Race.  What!.. A thing to look forward to..

MY SHIRT JUST THREW UP ON MY HEAD.

So I just had to take a moment to send many congratulations to the one and only unstoppable M.I.A. for dropping a healthy baby just days after performing at the Grammy's.

LOS ANGELES — Call her Mamma M.I.A. The Grammy- and Oscar-nominated rapper has announced on her MySpace blog that she has given birth to a son.

The rapper wrote Saturday that her baby is "healthy, fine, beautiful" and the most amazing thing on this planet. She jokes that the two are working together on a tour.

The father is her fiance, musician Benjamin Bronfman. A representative says the couple have declined to release the baby's name.

The "Paper Planes" singer had a scene-stealing performance at the Grammys on Sunday. She strutted on stage with her swollen belly during a performance with Kanye West, Jay-Z, T.I. and Lil Wayne. The rapper says she started going into labor hours later.

I'm loving watching her cross over to dabble in the mainstream. Unfortunately she was woefully underused at the Grammy's. What do y'all think? At this rate, she will live on in that beautiful territory where such seminal, above the fray female artists like Bjork, Tori Amos and Ani DeFranco play.

Have y'all heard that tonight's episode of The Simpsons will be the series’ first ep that airs in HD and to commemorate this achievement, Matt Groening and team will be debuting a new main title opening sequence — the first in the show’s 19 year history:

After 20 years the Simpsons have changed their opening sequence. Tonight the show had its premier in HD and with it brought the first revamp of the main titles since 1989.

While some of the old parts remain (Bart still writes on the chalk board, Lisa still saxes her way out of music class, and Homer still throws radioactive material down his shirt) most of it has changed to catch up on 20-seasons worth of character additions. Apu's octuplets now appear in the opening as do Maggie's nemesis, the unibrow baby, and the crazy Texan millionaire, all added since the original sequence was created.

As a side note to fans, check out Marge's groceries, they have changed to include tomacco juice, and Mr. Sparkle detergent.

Wow, I have to say, the new HD looks great! Kudos them. Loves it.

How did I miss the memo that The Amazing Race was already back on the air?!

Seriously, CBS did like zero promotions on this new season. It's not like this show's garnered them countless Emmy's or anything.. I didn't even think to set the ol' TiVo. Thank god for surfthechannel.com! Have y'all heard about this site? Life saver.

So this 3 day weekend was well needed. Remember that movie Falling Down? Yeah, that was about to happen.. I had my first good Valentine's Day in years (thanks to Burrito King), we ran up to Santa Barbara to have a VIP, behind the scenes tour of the zoo thanks to one of my oldest friends, Sam and last night we went off at Club Papi with the boys and a j'amazing performance from Kat DeLuna. Click here to check out some fun clips from the zoo. I've posted my favorite below (tee-hee).

This weekend should fly by. Andrew's off to Puerto Vallarta Wednesday and I'll go down and meet him Saturday for his birthday celebrations. Off to the gym and The Abbey tonight for our boy Jesse's birthday and to give love to Candis and Marco at their weekly show

No, no. That wasn't a question.

THAT WAS ACTING. THANK YOU.

So continuing its destiny of one day becoming universally accepted as one of our country's only legitimate news sources, The Daily Show this week was invited to sit in on its first official White House press briefing.

As CNN's Political Ticker reported Wednesday, the Daily Show's John Oliver is on his way to the White House:

The White House briefing room is getting a visit from the Daily Show Wednesday. Correspondent John Oliver is speaking with White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs and several members of the press corps at the White House for an upcoming segment for the Comedy Central show.
The Washington Times' Jon Ward was there for Oliver's appearance, and has the details:

As we sat in the White House briefing room waiting for Robert Gibbs to emerge and begin the daily briefing, John Oliver stood in the back of the packed room against a wall on the left side and pretended to fall asleep or nod off while the Daily Show cameraman taped him from across the room. I wonder if that will be cut into their package and shown as if he is doing that while Gibbs is answering questions.

Fierce.

In equally exciting news, the trailer for what I have long been anticipating, Tarantino's latest venture, Inglorious Basterds, has already made its way to the interwebs and I couldn't be more stoked to see the final product start to come together.

August seems so far away...

So we finally made it to Coraline the other night.. (Lesson learned, to avoid the masses, and bridge and tunnel mobs of children, go to the Arclight on a weeknight as opposed to The Grove on a Saturday afternoon of opening weekend..)

It's tempting to go on for hours about the profound experience I had watching this special, timely piece of cinema.  And while those who are unfamiliar with the source material (Neil Gaiman's brilliant graphic novel) may be a little jarred at first by the world of this film and while the last act may hit a few pacing problems, the overall intent of Coraline proves uniquely profound and special. I can feel myself about to go off on this but I will leave that to those who've already astutely chimed in. Go see this movie, now.  (A-)

So I'm counting the days to this weekend.  Valentine's Day should be nice, we're doing a trip up to Santa Barbara on Sunday to see my girl Sam and the rest is up to us ;)

LET ME HOLD MY VA-JEAN FIRST..

OK... Chris Brown.. WHAT. THE. FUCK!! The event which will go on to be forever known as ChRhianna drama started to break yesterday afternoon just as everybody should've been revving up for the excitement of the Grammy's and while the night had its highlights (J.Hud earning her first gramaphone... Holla!) This confusing and bewildering incident proved to overshadow the rest of the night.

There's so much that should be said about this. I don't know if we've ever seen something this crazy happen before in the way that it did... Confusing text messages, twitter updates and E! News alerts started popping in as we were enjoying a fun round of charity Bingo hosted by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and as everything finally sunk in, we just seemed to be left with more questions.  First off, what the *F* was Chris Brown thinking??!  This whole thing really boggles the mind and I'll leave the rest of the analysis to those who've already spent most of today sounding off on the whole nightmare, but what I will note is that this is officially the end of what was promising to be a long and successful career for a very talented and well-liked young man. I can't imagine anyone in the next 10 years even wanting to approach Chris after what he did to pop music's brightest star. Rihanna's star has been soaring for sometime now and she will clearly come out of this ordeal only shining brighter. But still, this whole thing just sucks! I wanted them to be happy. Who would've ever seen this coming? Maybe those closest to them already saw the signs that it was heading somewhere ugly? Who knows... Talk about Disturbia... :(

So last night Andrew passed out early, so I popped in a Netflix rental that I’ve had on my queue for ages now, a quirky doc known as Plagues and Pleasures on the Salton Sea.

Film legend John Waters narrates this lil joint and adds an extra dimension of quirk to this fascinating study of one of America’s forgotten wonders.

I mentioned this weekend we were heading to The Grove to catch a 3D screening of Coraline. We’d bought the tickets in advance and all was set.. Or so we thought.. We arrived to an absolute mob scene. No signs of recession at The Grove.  The show was sold out and a line was being formed outside with the masses.  Needless to say, our plans ended there on the spot and we decided to swap our tickets for something less… Madhousey.  After much wrangling, we finally settled on Push, which is a movie I would normally never have had the initiative to see on my own accord.  Andrew liked it, had a good time, I was bored to tears and rather lost. Chris Evans was absolute yums as always but putting him opposite Dakota Fanning was just too jarring and weird to buy into. I dunno… Guess I wasn’t in the mood.

I’m already over this week before it’s begun. Bleh. Is it summer yet?

WELL I HOPE YOU DON'T TAKE UMBRAGE WITH THAT..

This morning my bb's, this morning we woke to some glorious news!!  After rumors, and speculations and a whirlwinds of will she's or won't she's..  Last night, at the exclusive Clive Davis Pre-Grammy's party, one Miss Whitney Houston took to the stage and according to all accounts present, she gave us back her voice!!

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — A stunning-looking and strong-sounding Whitney Houston made a triumphant return to the stage at a pre-Grammy party honoring her mentor, music mogul Clive Davis.

"I've got it, I've got it!" Houston, looking glamorous in a skintight leopard dress, sang early Sunday morning as she belted a line from one of her classic hits, "I'm Every Woman." But more than a lyric, it summarized to the crowd of A-list superstars and top industry execs that the superstar _ whose drug use and erratic behavior had caused a shocking fall from grace just a few years ago _ was back in top form.

"We all crossed our fingers that her beautiful story would end (happily)," said Jamie Foxx, who stood at the front of the stage and took video of Houston like he was just another fan in the crowd. "This is a new beginning."

Houston's mini-concert put an exclamation point on a night that included a rousing performance by Kelly Clarkson, an unlikely but magical duet between Jennifer Hudson and Barry Manilow and a rambling monologue by Kanye West.

"I have to bow in the presence of greats right now," West said as he looked out into the crowd, which at one point included Sir Paul McCartney, Prince, Diddy, Rihanna, the Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift, Quincy Jones, and other luminaries.

"I'm just humbled by your greatness, and also Clive," West told the audience.

Davis, the music mogul who founded labels, signed greats ranging from Houston to Bruce Springsteen to Janis Joplin, and resuscitated the careers of veterans like Rod Stewart and Carlos Santana, was honored by the Recording Academy as an industry icon on Saturday, hours before Sunday's Grammys. For nearly three decades, Davis' pre-Grammy party and concert had become one of the industry's most coveted invites; this year, the Recording Academy took the event over and honored Davis instead.

But while Davis got an award, he still held court like it was his own party, acting as the evening's host as he introduced performers like Stewart, the Kings of Leon and Leona Lewis.

Diddy got the often staid crowd on their feet with a moving rendition of his tribute to the slain Notorious B.I.G., "I'll Be Missing You," with Biggie's widow, singer Faith Evans, and a gospel choir.

Clarkson got one of the evening's biggest ovations with her performance of her new single, "My Life Would Suck Without You" and the Joplin gem "Piece of My Heart."

But Hudson was perhaps the night's biggest star _ until Houston hit the stage. Starting with the Super Bowl last Sunday, Hudson has been raising her profile after spending months in seclusion following the slayings of her mother, brother and nephew last October.

A smiling Hudson performed her hit "Spotlight," which earned her one of her four Grammy nominations, and got a standing ovation from the crowd. But she raised the bar with a pairing with Barry Manilow, injecting one of his signature songs, "Weekend in New England," with a lacking ingredient _ soul.

Afterward, the Oscar-winner joined the audience (and friend Fantasia), stood in the front and danced and sang as Houston performed. Houston started off with "I Will Always Love You," but didn't hit the high, sustaining notes that made the song such a dramatic, stirring hit. Instead, she kept her voice at medium power, deciding to croon rather than soar.

But as she got into hits like "It's Not Right, But It's O.K.," her voice appeared to get stronger _ and louder, and while she never replicated the vocal gymnastics of some of her past work, delivered a mesmerizing performance nonetheless.

The 45-year-old, one of the best-selling artists of all time and among the greatest singers, hasn't made an album since 2002. Then she was sinking due to drug use and a tumultuous personal life _ a far cry from the princess image she cultivated since her debut in the 1980s.

But the singer is expected to release an album sometime this year, and unlike other reported returns, this comeback seems to be the real deal.

"She was on it, she was happy _ she's back," said Foxx. "Everybody else watch out."

The Grammys air on Sunday on CBS.

I would've done anything to be there last night!!  Andrew is a voting member but after just getting back in from Mexico and after the crappy work-heavy week I had, we just couldn't muster ourselves up to it...  But now this year's Grammy's looks to be shaping up to be quite the interesting and momentous occasion.. Looking forward to observing how the night unfolds safe and sound from all of the madness.

AND NOT THE DOROTHY HAMILL KIND..

So I just had to take a moment out of my weekend to send mad love and congratulations to my dear, my beloved, my favorite actress of our generation, one Miss Claire Danes for the happy news of her engagement to Hugh Dancy (some actor guy who I have to say I really don't recognize from anything..)

Claire Danes and her British boyfriend, Hugh Dancy, are engaged, her rep confirms to Usmagazine.com. The couple have been inseparable since meeting on the 2007 film Evening. At the NYC premiere of Confessions of a Shopaholic, Dancy explained to Us what he looks for in his perfect girl. He told Us, “Someone who’s intelligent, somebody who makes me laugh. I know people always say a good sense of humor, but they’re usually lying. Somebody who kind of has an independent life and ambition.” Would Dancy — who appears opposite Isla Fisher in Shopaholic — consider making another film with his bride-to-be? “Never say never,” he told Us at the Sundance Film Festival. “There’s no list of people I wouldn’t work with, up to and including Claire. Obviously, I respect her as an actress immensely!” No word yet on when Danes, 29, and Dancy, 33, plan to walk down the aisle.

Oh Claire... A few years back my adolescent self would be heart broken by this news... I used to fantasize throughout high school about marrying Angela Chase but alas, things happen ;) My old self would have followed the development of her relationship with Hugh Dancy down to the very last detail, but as my interests have since broadened, I'm surprised to admit that I had no idea she was even dating anyone of late.  Claire's been no stranger to being put through the public media ringer the past few years (especially due to the choices she makes in her love life), but I still got mad, mad lurrrrve for her and will always be just a little bit biased in her favor towards whatever work or decisions she chooses to pursue.  All the best to the happy couple!

So I also got to send mad props out to Bravo for bringing back one of my favorite shows ever, HBO's original series Taxicab Confessions!!

Do y'all remember this show?? Ooh.. I love the Vegas episodes more than anything.. They bring back a lot of memories (me being in the backseat, not the front, obvz...)  Looking forward to reliving some of them with Bravo.  Loves it!

So it's Saturday and we're having a really hard time pulling it together.  Last night the festivities kind of went a little crazy there towards the end and I think we're definitely paying for it today.  Oh well, we're off to The Grove to contribute to the economy by shopping, eating and catching a 3D version of Coraline, which I've obvz been waaaay excited to see since I first heard about it's development nearly a year ago!  I'm expecting great things!  Holla!
